After you check in, Ercan international airport offers the returning traveller not one by several duty free shops! The prices are sometimes displayed in Euros, but you can pay in Turkish Lira, US Dollars or Sterling. The best buys are alcohol and tobacco, which are cheaper than in normal shops, but bear in mind your duty free allowances – Northern Cyprus is not in the EU. There are also two cafés where you can have a drink whilst waiting for your flight from Ercan airport. Announcements of flights are made in both Turkish and English.
To enter the TRNC you are not normally required to have a visa, however, if you travel via Turkey, you might need visa to enter Turkey. A Visa is not required when you travel to Northern Cyprus through crossing borders from South Cyprus. Before arranging your flight to Northern Cyprus, check your status with regard to visas with the nearest Embassy or Office of Representative for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
All flights to and from Ercan touch down in Turkey before proceeding on to Northern Cyprus. Cyprus Turkish Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Atlas Jet and Pegasus Airlines service Northern Cyprus.
Ercan Airport was refurbished 2 years ago and is a modern but small airport. It has 6 duty free shops, these are located on the first floor and 2 very good bars/restaurants, it is very rarely overcrowded, and parking outside is free.
The Taxi rank is just outside the arrivals hall and Taxis are available 24 hours a day.
There are three airlines which have scheduled flights to Northern Cyprus. These airlines provide regular flights to Ercan from UK, Turkey and Germany. For information about time tables, prices and reservations, please contact KKTC, Onar Air and Turkish Airways.

As there are currently no direct flights between Europe and the TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) all planes must first touch down in Turkey before proceeding to the TRNC, stopping at either Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, Antalya and Adana.
Importing of pets
Pets can be brought into the Northern Cyprus from Europe with few problems. The Ministry of Agriculture requires a certificate from a European vet stating that your animal is free of major diseases.
Quarantine should be no longer than 4 weeks but will depend on the species and country of origin of the animal. All quarantine costs must be met and are the responsibility of the owner.
Please contact the Northern Cyprus Ministry of Agriculture for more information on bringing animals to the TRNC and for preliminary permission.

The citizens of Turkey, United Kingdom, USA, Canada, Mexico, Malta, Japan, Switzerland, Norway, Israel, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Australia and New Zealand do not require a visa to enter Northern Cyprus. All other nationals should check their status with regard to visas with the nearest Embassy or Office of Representative for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Visitors who do not wish to have their passports stamped by the authorities on arrival in Northern Cyprus may request a stamped visa form which is loosely inserted into the passport and removed on departure.

Duty Free Regulations
Each adult is permitted to bring 400 cigarettes, 500gr tobacco or 50 cigars, 1 litre of wine or spirits and up to 100cl of perfume.
Many people now fly direct to Larnaca airport in Southern Cyprus. A transfer from the South to the Northern Cyprus will cost approximately £40 to £50 each way.
Larnaca and Paphos airports
The alternative air route of how to get to the TRNC is via South Cyprus Larnaca airport or Paphos airport, and then being transported to the Northern Cyprus across the border which is very straight forward. We can arrange for a reliable taxi to collect you from the South to any location in Northern Cyprus.

On the day of departure, the same taxi driver meets you anywhere in Northern Cyprus you like, where you will return your hired car, and takes you back to Larnaca airport.
